Stuff I’ve said…

Things I heard myself say today…

Which tattoo do you want?  (the temporary ones)

Please put that in a tissue.  That is what tissues are FOR!

I’m taking pictures so I can laugh about this some day.

Why are you apologizing as you come into the room?  What have you done?

Please don’t pick your toe fuzzies while you’re eating breakfast.

********

Isn’t it amazing what we say when little ones are in our home?

REALLY?

I took Mia school shopping tonight and I have to tell you it was funny.  Well at least it was to ME.  Mind you, she is heading off to kindergarten and the child needs shoes.  My intention was to go find a pair of shoes or two and some clothes if we had the time.  HA!  Mia had a gift card from JC Penny so we went there first to find something for her to spend her money on and we NEVER made it out of the store.   Can I just tell you that the girl spent it on two lip glosses?  Really?  TWO?  LipglossLipgloss

I couldn’t convince her to purchase clothes, shoes, accessories or anything.  Lip gloss.  ugh!  (My mama didn’t rear me that way)  That wasn’t the funny part.  Nu uh.

We went to another department to look at clothes for Mia and all of the sudden I felt overwhelmed.  Glitter, rhinestones, peace signs, crazy colors, lots of lace, etc.  Clothes were everywhere and they all looked like clothes she shouldn’t be wearing at this age..to me.  Apparently I freaked out a teeny, tiny bit because my daughter said, “Just settle down Mama.  We can come back here later.  Just relax.”
Really?  Did I just hear that?
You should have seen the hand motions that went with it.  Cracked me up.  Needless to say, I’ll be shopping another night.
I gave up and left (with two lip glosses).  Her little lips were slathered with that stuff and she was so happy.

Piece by piece

Puzzles

“Really?      Puzzles?       NOW?”  I ask.  “Sure, let’s get them out and let Mama make some coffee and I’ll help.”  I stagger towards the kitchen and notice the early hour and that she is totally ready to start her day.  Me?  Not so much at 7:10.  Not THIS ready.  Recently she has become fascinated with puzzles.  Ashley wants to do them all day long.  She is very independent and gets frustrated but sticks with it and I admire her diligence to complete the puzzle.   She is only 2 1/2 and I’m surprised by her determination to complete them by herself.  Her little face gets so serious while she puts it together.  I love these phases.  Soon we will be on another kick but for now, puzzles are IT!

Questions from Mia

Each day brings wonderful experiences with children and I love it when Mia (my five year-old) asks questions.  She asks questions ALL DAY LONG.  Here are some recent questions.

“When is kid’s day?  There is Father’s Day, Mother’s Day and Grandparent’s Day.  When is it kid’s day?”  I thought that was a wonderful question.

“Why are boys so rough?  They don’t play like me  and I don’t like their games.”

“Why can’t I marry Daddy.  He can be married to both of us, can’t he?”

“Why do you get to drink Coke whenever you want to?”

“Is Ellie visiting with Grandpa in heaven?”

“The gas station is up the street?  Do you mean up in the sky, in heaven?”

You will hear me say…DAILY

“Don’t make ugly faces at your sister!”

“Please use your manners.”

“Can you go get a tissue because I don’t really want that.  Thanks though.”

“Does it help to whine?”

“I’m going to count to three.”

“Awe, how sweet of you to hug her.  WAIT!  Not that tight!”

“Please eat your food.”

“Please share.”

“Did you wash your hands?”

“I’ll set the timer and then you can switch when it beeps.”

Forgive me if I randomly say one of these things to you.  I just can’t help myself sometimes…they just blurt out.

Clomp…clomp…clomp

I have been “clomping” (that is the word I made up for the sound of me walking with this shoe) around for a few days now with this lovely shoe.  ARGH, MATEY!  I sound and look like a peg-leg pirate Clompwalking through the house.  Swaying one way and then the other trying to walk in this shoe that won’t let me move my foot.  Three weeks of this?  Holy, moley!  I’ve taped my toes together and that will hopefully help my toe heal properly and I REALLY look forward to walking in a regular shoe again.  Ahhhhh.  Y’all feel free to run out and get yourselves one of these fashionable shoes.  They are ALL the rage!

On to other items.  The girls went to a party this morning and have started their sugar feast.  This is NOT a good picture but you get the idea.  They wouldn’t sit still and wouldn’t smile so this is all you get for now.  I will be in the presence of Cinderella and Snow White this year.

Ashley turned TWO

AshleyBday

Ashley's birthday wasn't really the special day that had we planned, but since both of the girls were sick and had fevers, we stayed home and played in our jammies. Ashley is a delightful little girl and makes us laugh all the time. My baby girl turned TWO! Time is flying.

Silly Fun

FunLunch

Today was a day to be silly and have a fun lunch and not worry whether or not it was healthy.  You know those days are fun every now and then.  I made silly sandwiches that looked like the girls.  NOT REALLY.  LOL  They thought it was fun and of course, Ashley ate the eyes (M&Ms) right away.  Mia saved hers and ate them a hour later.  She is a VERY slow eater.  VERY S….L….O….W eater.

My allergies kicked up today and I sneezed all day long and blew my nose like crazy and generally felt like I was in a fog.  I’m going to take allergy medicine on a regular basis starting TODAY and see if that helps.  I’m miserable.  UGH!  You didn’t ask, but I told you anyway.  : )

I will leave you with a pair of earrings that are a great punch of color to add to your lampwork collection.  Go ahead and visit them.  Go on.   They are on sale also!

Room With A View

This is our new room house with a view.  I stopped at a garage sale today, which I never do normally, and the girls spied this little house.  We don’t have a swing set and I have been wanting to get something for them to play on or in this summer and so, I paid a small sum of money and drug this home.  THEY LOVE IT!  It is in great condition and I look forward to many years of them playing in this little house.  In my mind I put a window box on it, a flower pot by the door and hung curtains in the windows.  No, I won’t do it but I was totally making the place cute for them in my mind.

Mia is now four and has stopped her afternoon naps so she has quiet time during the afternoon.  Today she was especially quiet and I went up to check on her and this is what I saw.  A little girl curled up under her blanket, in front of her dollhouse, wearing gloves.   Now that is the definition of quiet time for sure!  I guess every now and then she still needs a nap.

GaGa for Lovies

Both of my girls have lovies.  You know, a little stuffed pet.  They carry them EVERYWHERE with them.  Mia’s lovie is disgusting well loved and I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to keep that little lamb together.  I shall take pictures some day to show you her lovie but today, I thought I would show you this one.

Ashley'sLovie

Both of their stuffed animals came from Pottery Barn and have held up very well considering how much they are loved.  Ashley twirls the strings she has pulled out of the ends of the bunny’s feet and ears.  I wish I could capture her saying “Buie” = bunny.  She can’t say the n’s.  Try saying bunny without the n’s and that is how she pronounces it.  Adorable.

My husband has been out of town since Wednesday and will be back soon.  We have had fun and enjoyed the girl time together (I think) and I enjoyed watching a movie all by myself last night into the wee hours of the morning.  :::giggle:::  I always think I’ll go to bed early but…I don’t.

You all enjoy your fabulous Friday!  I LOVE Fridays and think I’ll run out and do a little shopping for a BIG mirror, a coffee maker, some groceries, and a fun drink from Starbucks.  Watch, I’ll probably come home with only groceries because someone lost it and started crying.  (Hopefully not me.)

4 Years Ago Today

Mia came into this world four years ago today.  It was a long anticipated arrival (aren’t they all?) since I had to stay in the hospital for a month before she was born due to complications during the pregnancy but oh, it was SO worth every minute of it!  Mia is a precious little girl full of spunk, laughter, dancing legs, a vivid imagination, and loads of love.  I adore my gift from God.  Happy Birthday sweet Mia.

Easter

I had to share a picture of my little girls in their Easter dresses. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Grandma got these for them and they hardly ever wear dresses so this was fun until they started running around and then they changed into play clothes (I will not show you those clothes – tee he).  I hope you all had a great Easter.  We certainly did!  We visited with family in northern Ohio, ate wonderful food and had a great time chatting with the family.  It is always a mini vacation going to see Mark’s parents (yes Carrie and Mindy, you too).  I don't have much in the way of news so I’ll go now, but had to share this little picture.

PoM-PomS for Fun

P3206532

I forgot to show the pom-poms that we put in Mia’s room.  They turned out well and I ended up doing most of the work.  Surprise !  But it was fun and she likes them in the corner of her room.  We did one BIG one and two little ones.  It is all fancy now!   Ashley has one little white one in her room and she points to it all the time so I would say she is thrilled with hers too!

I’m headed off to work on beads and I plan on doing an earring sale in the next few weeks so stay tuned for that.  The “Earring Extravaganza” is coming!

Happy Hump Day

Yes I realize the day is nearly over but I can still wish you a happy hump day, can't I? Sure I can. Not much going on here that is different from the daily routine. Maybe a little bit more whining and drama from a toddler who is teething but it isn't bad at all! Mia found a new "room" in the house today and thinks it is super cool! What room is it? The CLOSET! Yep, the coat closet. Who knew. I took the sweeper out and a few odds and ends and now it is a fun place to go. She played in there most of the day with a flashlight and all kinds of things that she drug into that closet. Maybe I will try that someday, too! Will anyone miss me? hmmm? Oh the simple joys of finding a new play "room".

Here is a bracelet to add variety to your days when you wear it. Go here to see more.

Oh, this is FUN!

I'm really liking this UBP09! (see post below if you don't know what I mean) : ) It is so fun to hear from new visitors and go and visit them and see all of the wonderful posts that people are leaving (thank you) and enjoy other people's blogs. What FUN! If I thought I had a problem before with spending too much time on the internet, boy oh boy, am I going to have to limit my time on the computer THIS WEEK. There are so many inspiring women out there that are taking the time to blog and share their stories. Simply lovely and wonderful I tell ya.

Silly story for me. Yesterday I took the girls to the mall and Mia heard a train bell in the mall. YES, a train bell. Well, it was a miniature train that was part of a Easter bunny display and she HAD to have a ride in it. So...I relented and got into the very little train engine with Mia and then held Ashley on my lap since she was too little to ride by herself. Off the train went around a very little track that took us around, and around, and around. Get my drift? Oh, I nearly lost my pretzel that we had just eaten and couldn't wait for the end of that ride. The "conductor" gave us an EXTRA long ride :::wink, wink::: since no one else was in line and I gotta' tell ya', I wish he hadn't. It was all I could do to keep myself together. I closed my eyes and wished it would end SOON. It did and I crawled out vowing to NEVER do that again! Next time their father can crawl into that thing and listen to the train bell and toss his pretzel. BUT...Mia and Ashley had fun. That is what counts!

Sick Sisters

What a week we just went through! BOTH girls were sick but I believe they are finally on the mend. Phew. This was not the ordinary cold and fever stuff for them. This virus, or whatever it is/was, packed a punch. I have enough medicine in this house to last the rest of the year! I'm just glad they are starting to feel better and will now be back to their spunky selves.

I snapped this picture the other night while they were on our bed. They both felt so bad and while watching the television, Ashley put her head on Mia's lap and Mia rubbed her head. It was a touching moment considering they don't love on each other much so I was glad I had a camera near to capture it.

Enough about the sick ones. Since things are returning to "normal" I plan on sitting down at the torch this week. I have a few orders to fill and also want to work on a new piece or two to show you. Spring is coming soon and I want to start making things with fun and vibrant colors. Enough of these gray, cloudy skies and drab days. I'm ready for warmer, sunny days, and for little flowers to peek out of the ground. aahhhh. Oh wait, I was talking about jewelry. That's right. I got carried away there. I'll get to some new pieces later this week if all goes well. I have some silver chain here that I purchased a few months ago and I want to make a piece with it so hopefully it will turn out like it looks in my head. HOPEFULLY!

Happy Valentine's Day

February 14th is here and that makes it...Valentine's Day! I don't normally get into this day but having children is making me feel differently about special holidays. So, I made little banners last night and hung them on their bedroom doors with little hearts strung onto ribbon and I just put together these little boxes. You wonder why I used little boxes instead of a bag? Well let me tell you. Mia is in a phase where she collects various things in the house of all shapes and sizes and puts them into containers and boxes. Ashley is starting to do it because she sees her older sister doing it so what better way to help them with their habit than give them bead boxes!!! I have little candies in them now but those will soon be eaten and then they can peruse the house gathering stuff and collect it in the little squares. I'm a genius aren't I? You laugh? Well, they are little and this will be perfect for them today. Honestly.

You all have a wonderful day and I'll be back soon with freebie fun this week. Freebies are always fun aren't they?
