Room With A View

This is our new room house with a view.  I stopped at a garage sale today, which I never do normally, and the girls spied this little house.  We don’t have a swing set and I have been wanting to get something for them to play on or in this summer and so, I paid a small sum of money and drug this home.  THEY LOVE IT!  It is in great condition and I look forward to many years of them playing in this little house.  In my mind I put a window box on it, a flower pot by the door and hung curtains in the windows.  No, I won’t do it but I was totally making the place cute for them in my mind.

Mia is now four and has stopped her afternoon naps so she has quiet time during the afternoon.  Today she was especially quiet and I went up to check on her and this is what I saw.  A little girl curled up under her blanket, in front of her dollhouse, wearing gloves.   Now that is the definition of quiet time for sure!  I guess every now and then she still needs a nap.

GaGa for Lovies

Both of my girls have lovies.  You know, a little stuffed pet.  They carry them EVERYWHERE with them.  Mia’s lovie is disgusting well loved and I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to keep that little lamb together.  I shall take pictures some day to show you her lovie but today, I thought I would show you this one.

Ashley'sLovie

Both of their stuffed animals came from Pottery Barn and have held up very well considering how much they are loved.  Ashley twirls the strings she has pulled out of the ends of the bunny’s feet and ears.  I wish I could capture her saying “Buie” = bunny.  She can’t say the n’s.  Try saying bunny without the n’s and that is how she pronounces it.  Adorable.

My husband has been out of town since Wednesday and will be back soon.  We have had fun and enjoyed the girl time together (I think) and I enjoyed watching a movie all by myself last night into the wee hours of the morning.  :::giggle:::  I always think I’ll go to bed early but…I don’t.

You all enjoy your fabulous Friday!  I LOVE Fridays and think I’ll run out and do a little shopping for a BIG mirror, a coffee maker, some groceries, and a fun drink from Starbucks.  Watch, I’ll probably come home with only groceries because someone lost it and started crying.  (Hopefully not me.)

4 Years Ago Today

Mia came into this world four years ago today.  It was a long anticipated arrival (aren’t they all?) since I had to stay in the hospital for a month before she was born due to complications during the pregnancy but oh, it was SO worth every minute of it!  Mia is a precious little girl full of spunk, laughter, dancing legs, a vivid imagination, and loads of love.  I adore my gift from God.  Happy Birthday sweet Mia.

Happy Memorial Day

Thank you to all of those who have served and are serving our country!  Thank you for giving of yourself for our country and in such a selfless manner.  We are free because of their choice to serve our country.  I’m glad we take the time as a country to honor them.  How very blessed we are to be in the United States of America!

I am enjoying this day and had to pick the peonies that are scattered about my gardens.  After I picked them I left them outside for a bit so that all of the ants could leave and find another home so they wouldn’t come inside.  Now the flowers are arranged all over the house and I LOVE IT!  These flowers found their way to my desk right near my window.  I wish they would bloom all year but I only get to enjoy them these few days in May.  Ahhhhh!

Having Fun

I am in Toledo enjoying a wonderful visit with my sister-in-law and her family. She and her husband have three boys and add my two to the mix and it is a bit busy and fun all at the same time. The children are getting along very well and the weather has been spectacular. My husband is probably LOVING the time alone. This is the first time he has been alone, really alone, for four years. I can only imagine he has stayed up late to enjoy his time without all of the girls. We can be a bit much, ya know. That is my update for now. I'll catch up with you later when I'm home again.

Julie Charm Necklace

I mentioned a few weeks ago that we had a loss in our family.  Julie went to be with the Lord at the age of 33 and she was a woman who touched MANY in her short life.  I heard that she had over 700 attend her memorial service!  What a testament to a life well lived.  In honor of the life Julie lived, two necklaces were created for Julie’s mother and sister as tokens of love and remembrance.  Go here to read more about it.  It was an honor to work on the necklaces!

I have enjoyed the wonderful breeze today.   I have spent quite some time at the computer editing photos and doing other things, and the open window next to me has been divine.  A sweet, gentle breeze is so refreshing.  The birds have been signing away and the sun is just now starting to peek out from behind the clouds.  I believe we will have a beautiful sunset tonight and I plan on going outside to enjoy it before the mosquitoes start to become too thick.  Mosquitoes LOVE  my skin and blood but I don’t care for them AT ALL!

I shall bid adieu for now and will be back tomorrow with more pictures and a video clip if I can figure that out. : )

Treasures

Mia couldn’t wait this morning to show Mark and I what she found yesterday while at Aunt Vicki’s house.  She and her cousin Ella, ran around in the forest with Vicki and gathered ALL kinds of things.  I remember the wonder of finding wonderful little treasures in the county when I roamed around.  Mia turned her little brown bag upside down onto the table and this is what was in her bag.  She had a beautiful piece of moss, twigs, precious little white flowers, pinecones, grass, and “onion grass”.  How fun to be so small and see the little beauty of life.

What did I do yesterday you ask?  Well, thanks for asking.  : ) I worked and then I organized my corner of the office.  Packing supplies are now all nice and tidy, I purged myself of papers that I collected for no GOOD reason, and then organized my 2008 receipts and invoices into a box and then…um…I played!  It was fun to be with just Ashley.  I really enjoyed the refreshing change in our schedule!

I am not the only one!

Here is a moment of honesty for you whether you want it or not. Some days I feel like I am going to fall apart and I only have two children!!! I don't know how single mothers or mothers of many children do it! I applaud them. Really, I do! Some days I am able to keep up with the laundry, dishes, grocery shopping, cooking, working part-time from home, running a business from home, and....other days I am not. I feel like something always has to give and it differs from day to day. Is anyone else out there dealing with similar issues? Surely you are! Anyway, I found this blog today from Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy and had to share a VERY refreshing post. It totally made my day and now I know that at least one other mom is in the same boat. phew!

On a different topic, my sister has Mia for a few hours today and let me tell you, I feel like I can tackle the world. Ashley is here, sleeping, but I still feel like I can finish my to-do list and anything else that comes my way. How silly that one child out of the home makes me feel so energetic! Just imagine what I could accomplish if BOTH of my little girls visited someone for an entire day. Oh me, oh my. I must get going then and work and then try to do what I can. I'll be back later with pictures.

Catching Up

Yes, I am still here. I know, I know, I haven't been blogging much lately. Sorry. I have been busy with this and that. Life. You know how that goes. One day slips into the next, and then more of them slip away and before you know it, a week or two have gone by in a blink. How does that work anyway? I can only imagine how time will fly in the years to come. It is going quickly NOW and I hear it seems to speed up as the years pass. aaahhhh!

Here is a necklace that I worked on for some time with a customer who wanted to give this to her daughter at her college graduation party. I was thrilled that I got to see her open the necklace at her party. It looks perfect on her. Maybe Kimberly will let me show you a picture of her wearing the necklace.

I have a necklace that I put together that is simple but fun. It is a simple chain with a pendant. I'll take pictures of it and show you soon.

That is it for now. Ta, ta and enjoy your week.
