Custom Design Stories - 2

Men love to give jewelry.  Thank goodness since women love to receive it also!  A win, win for everyone.  I recently worked with a husband who requested a custom lampwork design for his wife.  It was her birthday and he wanted to have a necklace and earring set for her special day.  We designed this necklace with pastel colors and a hint of blue so that she could wear it with LOTS of things in her closet.   

He contacted me after her special day and told me that she loved it and he was so pleased to have a unique gift for her. 

This is the part of my business that I LOVE!  Working on custom designs and getting to know my customers and their stories.  I LOVE it!

Full of Fun Lampwork Necklace

Happy Monday!  I’ve been in the mood to make VERY colorful designs and here is one of them.  This is a GREAT necklace to wear with loads, no scads, of things.

Spring fever has hit me bad and I CANNOT WAIT till the weather warms up and the birds start to sing.  I have wonderful ideas floating around in my head and plan on working on beads to brighten up my shop for SPRING.   I also have a few new design ideas that I’m looking forward to putting together soon.  I guess all of that time either in the bed, on the couch, or on the floor playing, has taken its toll on me.  I just want my energy level to catch up with my creative streak.   For now I’ll enjoy the snow that is currently falling, drink hot chocolate tomorrow and break out the ready-to-bake cookies tomorrow.  I plan on spending a cozy day at home with the family.

The online Open House is in one week!

For those of you who weren’t part of this event last year, let me explain how it works.  Next Monday night at 8:00 p.m. EST, I will put up an Open House link on my website.  All of the items in the Open House portion of the website are ready to be shipped to the FIRST person who purchases the item. Only one of each item will be available IN the Open House portion of the website. 
Once an item is purchased, it will show as sold out and that item will no longer be available.  Your purchase will arrive gift-wrapped and ready for you to put under a tree or in a stocking.  I will leave the Open House link up till Friday evening but then I will remove the link till…next year.  Oh what fun!  If you have any questions, contact me and I’ll be happy to answer you.

In the Middle Necklace

Check out a necklace I put up today.

How is everyone? Sick, healthy, burned out, full of energy, or in the middle? I'm currently in the middle of helping two children make their way back to health. This is only October and we still have many months ahead for germs to run around homes, schools, and local gathering places. The thought is slightly freaky but life can't come to a halt can it? I'm also in the middle of digging out of tons of clothes to sort through and pass clothes along that we no longer need. I have storage containers here, there, and everywhere. It is rather humorous honestly. Plastic towers of clothes. So are you in the middle of something? We always are aren't we? It is life!

Selfless

You know that person who gives, and gives, and gives?  They give to everyone with a smile and I often wonder how they are able to do it.  I run out of steam eventually.  There are those gifted though with the ability to give generously to those around them in many ways and we are all blessed by their generosity.  The silk, hand dyed necklace with a lampwork pendant and matching earrings was a custom design set for such a woman.

May we all be inspired to use the gifts we are given each day.

Some days I do, some days I don’t

Some days I can tackle the world and get all most of it done, and then…some days, I can’t.  Today was a long day for some reason.  I was out of it from the moment my feet touched the floor and I’m glad to be going to bed soon.   We had fun and went to a park so the girls could ride their bikes, throw rocks in a river, play on a playground, swing, and go down fast slides.   The highlight for me was watching the hummingbirds come to our new feeder at our front window.  They are so tiny and precious.  I did get a few items onto the website so that is an accomplishment, right?  Right.

Making beads like CRAZY

In a few days I'm headed to North Carolina and I'm taking beads and jewelry with me to share with unsuspecting people. I'm looking forward to the trip but I'm also a little nervous about traveling that far by myself. I know, I'm a little silly but still....

Here is a beauty that you should check out. It is a necklace that I just completed as a custom design for three sisters who are giving this necklace to their sister for her 75th birthday! I think she will love it!



I'll check back in when I return. I just wanted you to know that I'm still here but I have been working on making beads and working on custom designs.

Julie Charm Necklace

I mentioned a few weeks ago that we had a loss in our family.  Julie went to be with the Lord at the age of 33 and she was a woman who touched MANY in her short life.  I heard that she had over 700 attend her memorial service!  What a testament to a life well lived.  In honor of the life Julie lived, two necklaces were created for Julie’s mother and sister as tokens of love and remembrance.  Go here to read more about it.  It was an honor to work on the necklaces!

I have enjoyed the wonderful breeze today.   I have spent quite some time at the computer editing photos and doing other things, and the open window next to me has been divine.  A sweet, gentle breeze is so refreshing.  The birds have been signing away and the sun is just now starting to peek out from behind the clouds.  I believe we will have a beautiful sunset tonight and I plan on going outside to enjoy it before the mosquitoes start to become too thick.  Mosquitoes LOVE  my skin and blood but I don’t care for them AT ALL! 

I shall bid adieu for now and will be back tomorrow with more pictures and a video clip if I can figure that out. : )

Catching Up

Yes, I am still here. I know, I know, I haven't been blogging much lately. Sorry. I have been busy with this and that. Life. You know how that goes. One day slips into the next, and then more of them slip away and before you know it, a week or two have gone by in a blink. How does that work anyway? I can only imagine how time will fly in the years to come. It is going quickly NOW and I hear it seems to speed up as the years pass. aaahhhh!

Here is a necklace that I worked on for some time with a customer who wanted to give this to her daughter at her college graduation party. I was thrilled that I got to see her open the necklace at her party. It looks perfect on her. Maybe Kimberly will let me show you a picture of her wearing the necklace.



I have a necklace that I put together that is simple but fun. It is a simple chain with a pendant. I'll take pictures of it and show you soon.

Fresh and New

I am so pleased to say that I have a new website! My wonderful friend Michelle, from Polka Dot Dandy, created this cute site and was so patient to work on each detail till we (I) got it to the place we (I) wanted. Michelle does great custom work so if you ever have a need for custom website design, consider asking Michelle to help you. She also offers other services so please go and check her out! I also designed a few things while Mark and the girls were away over the weekend. I designed a necklace called Stroll in the Stream. It is a lovely necklace! Click here to see it.
